About The Practitioner

Caroline Purdy is a board-certified and licensed acupuncturist and herbalist in the state of New York and New Jersey. She came to study Traditional Chinese Medicine via her personal exploration of the mind-body connection which she discovered through her Ashtanga yoga practice. She studied Traditional Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Health and Science in New York City. She is trained in all aspects of this medicine, which includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, gua sha, cupping, but holds a special interest in electro-stimulation. In the past, she interned at Columbia University’s Student Health Services and the Institute for Family Health in New York City. She also holds a certification to teach Vinyasa yoga from the Shala Yoga House as well as one in Restorative Yoga taught by Judith Hanson Lasater. In addition to these modalities, she also holds a Master’s degree in Modern Art and Critical Theory from Columbia University and worked in literary book publishing for a number of years.

Caroline holds keen interest in treating all sorts of pain, be it physical, spiritual, or emotional. Her interests and experience focuses on Orthopedic and Neurological Disorders, Mental Wellness, and Fertility. She believes that many common illnesses are rooted in a dysfunction of one’s own autonomic nervous system and that acupuncture is one key to regulating this system, which is so integral to our wellbeing. She takes pride in providing her patients with effective treatments while they are couched in a nurturing, safe space.

When she is not working or engaging in her continued studies, she enjoys her daily ashtanga yoga practice, reading about space and astronomy, and spending time with her husband and dog.
